Makonde Chieftains Chair

This chair/throne was created by a Luguru craftsman for a Makonde King or Chieftain. Carved from one piece of wood the distinguishing features are the female head at the apex of the back and bearing the traditional labret in the upper lip and the scarification denoting a civilized person.
